Early 1900s Tinned Copper Chafing Dish. Bring authentic, antique Mission-style charm to your table with this copper chafing dish! Featuring a solid copper body with tinned lining and brass and ebony-colored wood accents, this five-piece set is ready to provide you with regal service -and perhaps some delicious chocolate-covered strawberries! Of New York between 1900 and 1909, this large chafing dish features its original wooden and copper base, oil burner, double broiler, and lid!
Both pan bases and the burner are stamped with the S. The burner also lists a patent date of Feb. 17, 190X where the last digit for the year was either under-stamped or worn-off. This chafing dish set is in EXCELLENT condition! The aged patina is even and wonderful. I did not shine this piece because some folks find an even patina charming. The piece has some light to moderate surface wear, including some oxidation to the tinned interior of the teapot. The ebony on the top knob is chipped, but this can be turned to make its appearance minimally evident. The burner is untested and assumed as decoration, although all levers and knobs move freely. The wooden base shows some wear and light scuffing. Max height fully assembled: 12 ¾ in Chafing pan width, including handle: 16 ¼ in. Base diameter: 10 ½ in.
